Kathleen A. Hilton

Katie Hilton has been an attorney with DeSisto Law since 2015. Over the past 5 years, she has had extensive jury trial experience in both the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island and in the Rhode Island Superior Court, as well as appellate experience in both the Rhode Island Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Katie’s practice is focused on the defense of municipalities; employment discrimination; constitutional violation claims, including Substantive and Procedural due process, equal protection, and First and Fourth Amendment violation claims; and personal injury claims. Katie has tried numerous jury trial cases to verdict. Additionally, she has extensive experience in pre-trial discovery and arguing both dispositive and discovery motions.

Katie graduated from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in 2012. She then attended and graduated from Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, in 2015, with a J.D., concentrating in Trial and Appellate Advocacy. While in law school, Katie was the Managing Editor for the Journal of Health and Biomedical Law. Since beginning her practice, Katie has presented for the Washington County Crisis Intervention Training Program, which is a solution-focused community model response for police departments to recognize and help people in crisis.

In 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, Katie was selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, New England in the area of General Litigation.
